April 2, 2009: With a vote of 553:44:33, the plenary session of the European Parliament adopts a Resolution on European Conscience and Totalitarianism. The Resolution represents the first official acknowledgement of communist crimes by the European Parliament. March 25, 2009: The plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg discusses European Conscience and Totalitarianism. The transcript of the debate, together with a complete videorecording in all official languages of the EU can be found here.  

March 18, 2009: The Czech EU-Presidency holds a Public Hearing in the European Parliament with the title "European Conscience and Crimes of Totalitarian Communism: 20 Years After".

September 18, 2008: The Bulgarian Parliament supports the Prague Declaration.

September 18, 2008: based on the Prague Declaration, The Greens / the European Free Aliance hold a public hearing in the European Parliament called "Totalitarian Regimes and the opening of the secret files archives in Central and Eastern Europe".
